NICU Celebration Day

Our complex project spanning five months, remodelling and refurbishing the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Hull Royal Infirmary has come to an end with a special celebration day, across the ward to mark the milestone.

This project was a collective team effort from day one. Working in partnership with Apleona to make significant improvements and completely transform the facilities for Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Massive thanks to the principal contractor Helix, and particularly their site foreman Darren Bilton for his relentless determination in driving the project through to completion.” - David Ellis, Apleona.

We extend our thanks to our wider subcontractor team, who have shown complete dedication to the NICU project at every stage: MEC Humber, Techcon, Dawber Williamson, Pittaway – we couldn’t have done this without your support.

Our brilliant people and project delivery team showed tenacity, commitment and sensitivity throughout. From 100% Healthy and Safety reports to consistently receiving positive feedback from the client and wider network. We’re incredibly proud of our team for keeping the project running smoothly, with Site Manager, Darren at the helm.

“Not only have they transformed our Neonatal Unit, they have done it during one of the most challenging times for us, with the unit being at capacity. Darren ensured his team always remained professional and respectful and I don’t feel it could have gone any better.

Transforming the parents sitting room, buying all the baby toys from the NICU Amazon Wish List and to Sophie’s mum for baking every Friday for the wellbeing trolley. I am very grateful to you all, as are the staff and families.” - Francesca, Neonatal Unit Manager.

Francesca and her incredible team were instrumental in the success of the project. Their commitment to the ward and unwavering cooperation and involvement at every stage was invaluable.

Our entire team at all levels, have completely invested themselves in the NICU project. Delivering facilities that positively impact our wider community is our purpose and has a deeply profound impact on our team - creating connections that extend beyond the handover.

It’s our mission to build facilities that positively impact our wider community. We look forward to the official opening of the ward in the coming months and wish the NICU team all the best.
