Immunology Department, Castle Hill Hospital

Location: Castle Hill Hospital, Hull, East Yorkshire

Client: Grosvenor Facilities Management (GFM)

Value: £150k

Timeframe: 6 Weeks

The brief

Extension of the existing Queens Centre to deliver a new Immunology department to provide patients and staff with a distinct department to solely focus on Immunology.

The response

The project, delivered in a record time period, relied on seamless interaction with the Client, design team, Helix project team members and key trade subcontractors from the supply chain, all working collaboratively

Built new walls to make the space into 3 new consultation rooms and a large patient treatment lounge

Timber glazed frame was left exposed to allow natural daylight to two of the consulting rooms

Installed new MF acoustic and suspended ceilings

Installed IPS units throughout the department to manage hand-washing and infection control

Fitted out the rooms with ceiling radiant panel heaters, curtain rails and lighting

Renewed parts of the flooring

Completed painting and decorating throughout all areas of the department

The highlight

As a result of the constant communicative relationship, despite there being several Client driven changes within the scheme, the project was completed on time and within the overall affordability envelope set at project inception. This was achieved by an extremely focused approach to monitoring, reporting and project programme sequencing.

As part of our digitalisation programme, we worked in partnership with Matterport to capture the Immunology Project and completed department as a 3D Model.
