Meet Paul, Senior Quantity Surveyor
We make it our mission to recruit on our values and ensure that every member of the Helix CMS team understands and works by the Helix DNA. We collaborate at every opportunity, all pulling in the same direction to achieve excellence in construction.
Our Senior Quantity Surveyor, Paul, plays a pivotal role in our projects. Providing commercial leadership to projects and contract teams, Paul forensically manages finances and contractual relationships with our wider network, to ensure that the commercial position of our projects is accurately reported and controlled effectively whilst supporting our Helix 360 vision. An integral part of the construction team, Paul knows what works, what doesn’t and how to deliver value.
When it comes to commercial management, Paul is best in class – he applies a logical and methodical approach based on facts and rational judgments from project inception to the day of handover and beyond.
His experience and knowledge, paired with his strong commercial acumen, enables him to liaise, develop and maintain strong relationships with all parties involved in a Helix CMS project, from clients to architects and sub-contractors.
Responsible for identifying, assessing and managing any potential commercial project risk factors, as well as making measurable steps to mitigate or eliminate them, Paul manages costs and maximises value through accurate financial management, to ensure that our projects are completed within Client budgets, every time.
Now you know what Paul gets up to on-site day-to-day, let’s find out a bit more about him:
What are you working on at the moment?
Delivering the new Castle Hill Day Surgery Unit for the Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
What is your proudest moment at Helix CMS?
Every day is a proud moment working with the team, but seeing Helix recognised and nominated at prestigious awards for the hard work we do makes me very proud.
In 2023, what’s one thing you think, or would like to see Helix CMS do to improve or develop?
To continue to grow steadily. Our brilliant team is stronger than ever but we’re always looking for ways we can improve, grow and be better.
In 2023, what’s one thing you would like Helix CMS to continue to do?
Our company ethos and values underpin everything we do and every decision we make, which is something I know we’ll definitely carry on and continue to do in 2023 and beyond.
In 2023, if you could encourage the Helix CMS team to do one thing, what would it be?
To continue to showcase our company and expand our portfolio, to get new and potential clients to realise what they’re missing by not being part of our team or our journey.
What are your two favourite things to do outside of work?
Riding motorcycles and going away for some R&R in my campervan.
We’re putting the kettle on – what do you drink and how do you take it?
Just a little sugar to add to my sweetness.
