We are now a Carbon Neutral Business
We launched our Eco-Social strategy in 2021 and have been building and implementing carbon reduction initiatives into the Helix DNA ever since its inception.
We are proud of our climate positive workforce and our most recent waste reduction programme has seen between 99–100% of site waste diverted from landfill. Single use plastic has been eliminated on-site, supported by the introduction of Helix reusable water bottles and coffee cups and important conversations with the team have been initiated on-site with vegan sausage rolls and Mars, soon to be the world’s first carbon neutral chocolate bar, distributed to staff on-site.
Most recently, through the process of data collection analysis across scope 1, 2 and 3 as well as measured methodologies, providing complete transparency of our operations - we are proud to announce that Helix CMS have partnered with Carbon Neutral Britain to measure and offset our carbon footprint, to become Certified as a Carbon Neutral Business.
"We are delighted to partner with Helix CMS Limited to help identify and offset their environmental impact for 2022 and beyond." - James Poynter, Director, Carbon Neutral Britain.
In the UK, businesses account for over 85% of total emissions - making corporate action the number one priority in helping stop climate change.
Helix CMS is leading the way in an industry that produces a third of the world’s overall waste, making measurable steps on our journey to leave a lasting legacy of positive environmental impact through our work – beyond the bricks we lay. It has never been more important for businesses to step up and take account of its corporate social responsibility.
Joining forces with Carbon Neutral Britain and becoming a climate neutral business is an incredible achievement for Helix CMS and our brilliant people. As a healthcare construction company, we’re fully aware we’ll always leave a footprint but we are driven by an unwavering passion and determination to ensure that our impact is as small and as green as possible – and our certified carbon neutral status is another piece of the puzzle in our wider Eco-Social strategy.
We have calculated and offset our total emissions in partnership with Carbon Neutral Britain, supporting verified carbon offsetting projects around the world through the Woodland Fund™ – not just offsetting, but also in supporting education, employment and clean water, as well as having net positive impact on the local wildlife and ecology. The projects that we support are certified to the highest standards through the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), Gold Standard Voluntary Emission Reductions (VER) and Certified Emission Reductions (CER) programmes.

We are always exploring new ways to continually reduce the Helix CMS footprint through sustainable initiatives and our partnership with Carbon Neutral Britain is a fantastic step for the company as we navigate our Eco-Social journey. We’re determined to build a better future and are moving towards delivering carbon neutral projects with a positive portfolio that makes a difference.
